Orca Safari in Tysfjord!

November 2003, Tysfjord

From November to January each year the tranquil fjords of Tysfjord are transformed into a hive of activity with the migration of orcinus orca, or the killer whale.

Book with us to witness a spectacular and breathtaking sight as the water becomes alive with these magnificent creatures.

Orca safaris can be booked throughout the winter months and, depending on weather, safaris will make the most of the 3-4 hours of daylight at this time of year. Against the spectacular backdrop of the Lofoten Islands visitors can witness some of the most beautiful sunsets as the Land of the Midnight Sun sets into darkness. On clear nights visitors may also witness another of the worlds great phenomena, the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)... a photographer’s dream!

Those braving the Arctic winters will never forget the spectacular sight of the orca against the stunning scenery of the rugged Norwegian mountains.

To protect against the Arctic weather immersion suits will be provided for the journey and a warm drink and food supplied.

Above can be seen the three landmarks of Tysfjord; Stetind, Norway’s national mountain; Bekkenesholmen, Norway’s first nature reserve and, of course, the killer whales.

For the more adventurous, take the opportunity of a lifetime to get up close by snorkelling or diving with the killer whales! Make it a holiday to tell your friends about!
